Montecatini Terme is a town with 20,832 inhabitants in the province of Pistoia. The most important centre in Valdinievole, this town at the east end of the Lucca Plain has a distinct gift for industry and commerce as well as for tourism, and is a prominent centre for its hotel facilities, owing to the importance of its spa in the district.
