Meldola [FC] | ITALY

The urban texture shows various superimpositions consolidated over the years: objects very different from one another that no longer amaze the ones used to living here their everyday life. An exception becomes –as we use to say- a rule.

The name Mel Dans is a homage to the small town on the hills of Romagna. Meldola has been chosen, for the anomalous and varied morphology of its arcades, as the place for experimenting and setting up this lighting system. It appears a unique thing, designed to accept irregularity. Drawn by the designers of DA2 Strategic Design Studio, it was conceived as an element for lighting arcades, but can also become a lamp-post: you might define it a semi-indoor system which can be used outdoor, if needed.

Mel Dans can be either used for catenary mount, or fixed to a wall or a bracket, either for direct or reflected light. The luminaire, in order to assure coherence and continuity between the arcades (vaulted, lacunar, flat, low, high arcades) and the street, can be mounted either to suspension steel cables, in the centre of the street or on lamp-posts. Chromatic customization is also possible so that Mel Dans can be fit for any environment or condition .

In addition to the proposed standard colours (corten, silver or gun-barrel) customers can choose among the chromatic options more suitable to their own needs. Mel Dans has received - as a lighting system - the approval of the Province of Ravenna Fine Arts Commission.
