Arona is the town where the Borromeos are from and in particular Carlo Borromeo, Milan’s archbishop, was born in 1538 exactly in Arona. The strategic position of this town make it an important tourist and commercial intersection; the variedness of the landscape characterizing this town and the presence of Lake Maggiore have surely been an inspiration for Mr Enrico Marforio when he designed the street furniture that would make Arona even more beautiful.

It is possible to see, on the promenade running along Lake Maggiore in Arona, the whole collection bearing the town’s name: from street-lamps (Arona and Arona Vela) to park benches. The project concerning lighting is characterized by the use of colour, consenting the creation of spectacular effects able to enhance the surrounding environment and make it stand out.

The street lamps Arona, Arona Vela and the light post Arona, all belonging to the same collection, are a perfect alliance between contemporaneity, due to careful optimization of light effects with wise handling of their chromatic effects– and the great artisan tradition of Ghisamestieri in the use of cast-iron.

Arona Vela consists of a base and a pole in iron casting with a steel core, an aluminium projector with a bottom cup in coloured opal material, a white fibre glass resin diffuser supported by a steel structure.
