Arenzano [GE] | ITALY

Realized by Ergo Design Studio from Genoa, the plan arose with the purpose of creating a line of street furniture where the search for design aims at characterizing the Christian Catholic emblems. The exterior furniture for squares in front of our churches has to reflect clearly what the symbols and values represented by those sacred buildings are. Therefore, you are not be mistaken if you think to extend these symbols also to artefacts such as street-lamps, benches, bollards, litter bins and so on.
And this in order that – outside and, above all, in the area in front of churches – the unequivocal traits belonging to the Christian faith may be evident and recognizable. The design of such street furniture identifies, as mentioned above, the representation of the Christian iconographical tradition through signs and symbols that clearly characterize the appearance of this collection.
The crosier-shaped street-lamp has a cross, the first symbol of the Christian faith, stiffening the bent structure of the upper burr. A cross is also present in bollards and benches and this returns an image that can be clearly seen even from a distance as an evident sign or as if announcing the presence of God’s house. Finally, the luminaire reminding the shape, familiar to us, of a priest’s hat.
All the street items in this line have a brass plate bearing the coat-of-arms of the church they belong to, so that all the products forming this collection may be customized for any place they have to be.
