Olbia is one of the main towns in Sardinia and is a commercial and industrial centre in full boom. It was the old capital of the Jurisdiction of Gallura and the first bishop’s see in Gallura. It has been (with Tempio Pausania) the chief town of the province of Olbia-Tempio since 2006. The town has experienced a remarkable population increase and a very quick economic development during the last decades. The place is rich of famous sea resorts, such as Porto Rotondo, and is equipped with infrastructures that make it a very important tourist centre for the whole Island.
