Cagliari, placed in the southern area of Sardinia, has been inhabited by Sardinian tribes since the nuraghe age.
In addition to the National Archaeological Museum, the most important one for the nuraghe civilization all over the world - also rich in Phoenician-Punic collections- the following places can be mentioned: the Roman amphitheatre, dating back to the Second century, St. Saturnino Basilica, built in the Fifth century, and the fortified quarter of Castello (Castle), which had been the residence of noble people until the II World War.
